vocsbox

Vocsbox is a mobile app for learning new vocabulary. It makes learning remarkably like playing a mobile game. Vocsbox uses flashcards learning method, adding spaced repetition and other smart learning techniques, in order to help its users remember new material on various subjects.  

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Our user needs a way to learn vocabulary and new things in an efficient and fun way with multiple learning methods included.

OBJECTIVE

Create a vocabulary mobile app that empowers people to learn new vocabulary and new things.

In order for a product to succeed, designers should know their competition and collect as much data as possible. That’s why I started this project with identifying major competitors and researching their products. This data will help me to create a solid product that users will actually want to use.

USER RESEARCH

After conducting three user interviews I combined all the notes and summarized answers into three categories: doing, thinking and feeling.

USER PERSONA

After conducting user research, I have a better understanding of the app I’m gonna create. All data I’ve collected is now synthesized into one user persona. This persona is a representation of the goals, pain points, and behaviors of a hypothesized subset of users. After that I will create user flows - which set out the paths that users will follow in order to achieve their goals.

BEHAVIORS

  • Wakes up early
  • Stays at the University from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Usually works on the weekends
  • Spends a few hours learning something new
  • Uses Vocabulary apps on a daily basis
  • Likes to learn in evening because it’s more peaceful and easier to focus on the matter

I conducted usability testing with three participants. My goal was to get real user feedback on my wireframes and prototype before putting too much time and too many resources into developing high-fidelity prototype.
