Challenge

I joined re:cap early, when a lot of things were still taking shape - product, brand, and even how the team worked day to day. I was part of a small design team of two, where we often worked in parallel on different features while staying closely aligned.

The idea was strong from the start: give tech and growth companies access to non-dilutive capital, along with AI-powered guidance on how to use it well. In practice, that meant helping companies better understand their financial performance in real time, guiding them to stay on track, and identifying when they need capital to unlock their next stage of growth. It also meant enabling teams to run weekly or monthly forecasts, build long-term funding plans aligned with their strategy, and connect those forecasts back to actuals and budgets.

My role was to help turn all of that into something people could actually understand and trust, not just through the interface, but through a clear and consistent story.

My role

I worked across four main areas:

• Customer app
• Operations app
• Website
• Marketing material

Across these, I led multiple product features end to end, e.g. complete onboarding, company benchmarking, fundability check, transaction tagging and many more, while fully owning the brand side as well as the website design and development. This meant constantly switching contexts, but it also allowed me to ensure everything felt connected - from the first touchpoint to the core product experience. A big part of my time there was focused on bringing AI into the product in a meaningful way.

I led the design of AI features like Pulse check, Capital AI Agents and chat, weaving them into existing workflows so users could better understand their metrics and make smarter decisions about when and how to use capital.

One of the hardest challenges was introducing AI into a space where trust really matters. Financial decisions are high stakes, and people need to understand what’s happening, not just follow recommendations blindly. Solving that meant rethinking how these interactions should work, finding the right balance between automation and control, and making sure the AI’s output was easy to understand within the interface.

Takeaway

One of the biggest takeaways was what it really means to build a product that evolves alongside its users. We didn’t start with a fully formed platform - we built it step by step. What began as a focused offering of non-dilutive funding grew into benchmarking tools, then into a more complete financial analysis product, and ultimately into an AI-powered financial guide embedded directly into user workflows.

I was closely involved in shaping and shipping these products, helping turn complex financial data into something actionable and easy to understand. Over time, this evolution resulted in a product used by thousands of companies, with strong retention driven by real ongoing value.

The impact wasn’t just on the surface level. re:cap deployed over €100M in funding and analyzed more than €20BN in transaction volume, which meant the product had to consistently perform at a high level of accuracy, clarity, and trust.
